It is mainly used in materials science or as a catalyst in chemical synthesis processes. Hafnium tetrachloride can strongly react with water, has strong hygroscopicity, and is highly hydrolyzable. The molecular formula is HfCl4. Colorless crystal, melting point 320 ℃, inorganic compound, chemical formula HfCl ₄. Hafnium chloride (IV) can effectively catalyze the direct esterification and condensation reaction of carboxylic acids and alcohols.The product is prone to moisture decomposition and produces hydrogen chloride acid mist when exposed to humid air. It is recommended to store and operate under inert atmosphere protection.
